Janamsakhis are a story form known as Kathas or Sakhis allied with lives of the Sikh Gurus They make the bedrock on which the foundation of the simplified teachings of Sikh tenets is set. The script is Gurmukhi but is in a merged dialect called ‘SantBhasa’ akin to Punjabi yet different. Guru Nanak's Janamsakhi’s are an age-old trove of Kathas, of a series of anecdotes compiled to preserve his teachings and travels in the life. They are somewhat similar to Parables of Canonical Gospels
